Summer 2024 internship applications open for The Dial and Libraries Without Borders

Art of Writing provides UC Berkeley undergraduates with paid literary internship opportunities (writing, editing, social media, etc.) with partner organizations.

Applications are now open for two of our 2024 internships: The Dial online magazine and Libraries Without Borders organization.

Internship expectations:

  • The internship at “The Dial” will run through the Summer 2024. The internship at Libraries Without Borders will run for through Summer 2024 and also Fall 2024 semester.
  • The intern will work about 15 hrs/week and will receive a stipend, paid out in two installments (one installment at the beginning of Summer 2024, and one installment at the end of the internship, when all commitments have been fulfilled). The stipend for The Dial will be $2000. The stipend for Libraries Without Borders will be $3000.
  • The hired intern must keep a monthly informal written log of activities and reflections, shared with Art of Writing, in order to receive their stipend. Art of Writing may also conduct an informal Zoom debrief of the experience at the end of the internship.

Application Process:

This internship is designed to support undergraduate students who may not otherwise have access to such opportunities. Thus, we are prioritizing students with financial need and early career candidates for this program. To demonstrate financial need, you must have an Estimated Family Contribution of equal to or less than $26,000. See your Financial Aid & Scholarships Profile under My Finances in Cal Central to check your EFC (Estimated Family Contribution) amount.

To apply, complete this application form by April 29, 2024.

For international students: Positions are open to international students as the payment is through UC Berkeley and considered on-campus employment. You do not need to apply for work authorization, but we recommend you keep documentation or a letter that explains the details of the internship.
