Art of Writing hosts “A Book is Born,” a conversation between editor Steve Wasserman and music critic Greil Marcus, whose collaboration spans 46 years and three books.
Wasserman is the publisher and executive director of Heyday and formerly editor-at-large for Yale University Press.
Marcus is an author, music journalist, and cultural critic notable for producing scholarly and literary essays that place rock music in a broader cultural and political framework. After meeting at UC Berkeley in 1971, the two began what would be a lifelong partnership that has culminated in the publication of three works of musical scholarship.
This conversation will follow the history, process, and partnership of these two successful writing professionals, exploring their collaboration and friendship through book writing.
