IB 101 | Introduction to Scientific Writing

2020 Spring

Paul Fine

This course introduces students to concepts and techniques for effective communication of scientific findings, both within the scientific community and to the general public.

Students learn to express themselves in a variety of formats, including systematic natural history observations in field journals, oral presentations, scientific reports, popular science writing and advocacy pieces.

The class includes experiential and inquiry-based learning. Students go on field trips where they record observations, develop a question, conduct research, and communicate what they learn to their peers in oral and written form.
